My rims are covered in brake dust on my 2006 9-3 Aero. When l have them cleaned, they turn black with dust again within a few days. Do l need a different type of brake pad?Is it just something with Saabs?l have never experienced this before.

Try a good quality ceramic pad. They create less dust.

l have had this same problem on Porsche, Jag and BMW -
l have found a person near me that has coated my tires with a teflon -- making it easy for the brake dust to wash away.

Hate those black rims.

l have an 03 9-3 Vector and among the many other problems I've had with this car, l definitely have this issue as well. l do not know of an easy solution but most of the 9-3 is l see on the road have a similar problem. Probably the brake pad used on the cars.

Many European cars suffer from this. It is a side effect from the brake pad that is being used. These pads offer better stopping performance in exchange for dust. The dust can also cause some minor squealing and groaning. There is a replacement pad for the 9-3 Sport Sedan available from Saab that uses a ceramic material instead of the regular compound. They dust less, but do not stop as well.
