Ive got a saab, go for the merc if you can afford it , you will look far classier, not that your not classy at the moment, l mean you must be classy to have either and l am sure you are very classy, well out of my class cos l have to wait till after christmas to get my Merc. Not a girl so it wont be a convertable.

My vote goes for the Saab based on styling. But because l do not know the models or years you are looking at l can not give you safety ratings or the gas mileage. They should play a part in your decision.
Plus Saabs have the appearance of a high quality nice looking car. Mercedes does as well, but they are more common among everyone than Saab.

You lucky, lucky girl - Go for the Merc evertime, especially the convertible and feel that wind in your hair - bet you're a blonde !

when buying a car, do not be ruled by your heart. the depreciation on a Saab is way above market average, and a Merc is below. so if you cant decide, let you pocketbook do it for you-pick the merc

Sad to say, both of them have terrible reliability problems.
I'd say, look around and marry the one you like- Saab mechanic or Mercedes mechanic- then buy that car. Otherwise it is a heartbreak a mile.

l used to drive a saab 900 convertible. chose it over other luxury marques because the swedish beauty appealed to me not only in its performance & safety standards but also the fact that it is unconventional, quirky even. l wanted a car that reflected my individuality, not something that l needed to show off with. its manouverability & control were excellent. l also liked the functionality of each aspect of its design. saab traditionally built airplane engines & the car is reputedly one of the safest on the road. have since traded in for an SUV when the kids arrived.

difficult decision..both r really good marques, build quality is excellent, & they last, my mates got a 96 E220 diesel with 260000 on it & it runs like new. & does 43mpg (diesel)
and saabs, well they make the sexiest delta wing fighter, the viggen, & statistically saabs r the safest car in the world. but, showjing some loyalty to volvo, (ive got one) look at the S80 convertible.cheaper than the merc or the saab. & as a volvo, itll last 25 years, or 350.000 miles.on its original engine.

merc slk. we've got one for sale if you want it!! It is definately better than the saab. Hardtop for a start and has more street cred than the old mans favourite company Saab.

Saab are so smooth - even the old ones! Mercs are just for old men if you ask me.

Do not buy either without a serious look at an audi, l think you may be surprised.

It depends on ur needs. l love a nice interior & the CLK Elegance sand interior is the nicest I've seen up to that price range. It will probably turn heads more than a Saab 9-3, BMW C-Class Convertible, or an Audi A4 Cabriolet. Apparently the Saab interior trim is a bit cheap; & residuals r poor compared to the rock-solid residuals of the CLK Cabriolet. But otherwise both r great cars. Do not be put off by stigma that some people attach to Mercs. The only reason people think they're for old men is because usually only old men can afford them. To call the CLK, SLK, & SL old-men cars is crazy.

You suit a Mercedes and its a much nicer car, rear wheel drive and better quality the Saab is just a vauxhall in disguise.
