Look around your area for an auto mechanic. Dealers are not the only service options, especially for a problem of this sort.

There r 2 reasons that this condition occurs. A defective wiper motor. In this instance the wiper motor fails to park in the correct position & the washer will usually be inoperative at the same time. In the other condition the wiper circuit in column integrated module (CIM) fails & the wiper motor does not respond at all. All in all the labor for both operations should not exceed 200.00 dollars. So there seems to be a large discrepancy in parts prices. Call a Saab dealer & ask for the parts dept. Ask them what the price is for a wiper motor & a CIM (column integrated module). l am sure that they r nowhere near 1000.00 dollars. The CIM is the unit that the wiper & directional levers r inserted into.
