...the know it alls who think Saabs are for old men disappear in your rearview mirror? l would not trade my 9000 Aero for anything; for the money l do not think there is a car that can even come close to it for sheer eye popping mid-range pull, equipment levels, safety, and rock solid build quality. Plus, The People In Shell Suits leave it alone too, so it never gets scratched or stolen.
Goodfrom everybody (except Ryder; you're total cock). Charlie_t, l agree that most Saabs handle like barges but if you really think an 850 Mini would leave me in ANY circumstances then you're dreaming. It would break down halfway along the lane anyhow. 1ucky8oy, l agree that a Clio 182 is a nice piece of kit that would leave my 9000 through the bends, but even a new Clio 192 would get left on the straights (l know because I've done it). My point is that for under 2 grand there is nothig to touch a Saab turbo for performance, equipment, reliability, and safety.

l would not wanna crash in a Clio....and l definitely would not wanna crash in a 70 is Mini (ask Marc Bolan)

They may pull mid range but the fuel gauge goes as fast down as the rev counter goes up if you do that. But they go around corners like a barge does! Probably because they are barges. My 72 mini with its original 850 form would leave you on any country lane. Fast in a straight line is one thing going around the corner at the end is different thing completely.

But they have a very hard job keeping up with a clio 182 in a straight line and on a nice windy road.

Also, parts are super expensive and seems like the quality is not great. l know two people at work with Saabs and they are in for service due to problems too much. Initial purchase price is expensive too. On the plus side, the Saab owners say the ride is good. But then it sounds like something my Dad would own. There are faster, cheaper and better choices out there. l do not know where in the world you could get a decent Saab for under 2 grand either.

With you all the way! My mate is got a fairly new 9-3 Turbo and it leaves pretty much everything on the road standing! It is very comfy, well equipped, safe, and contrary to what a lot of people think, it will out corner many a 'sporty' car.
Might make him an offer for it when he is done with it!

l love my old 900S which I've had for about 4 years now. It regularly gives me over 40mpg (Imperial); it has a cavernous boot for lugging my tools around & it is so comfortable. It does not use oil, accelerates like a rocket when l want it to & I'd rate my chances of survival if l ever had the misfortune to be in an accident.

It does have one annoying trait though, the wash/wipe gives about 6 wipes & the screen is clear, then about 10 seconds after it gives another last wipe & this smears the screen again.Grrrr.

l love the 9.5 is especially the Aero. This car is incredible. It takes off ramps at ridiculous speeds and there is hardly any oversteer. These cars are very reliable. Most people is bias comes from others who can not afford them anyway. They are easy to fix and the parts are not that expensive. l have seen these cars in severe front end collisions and the passenger compartment is basically unscathed. l love the Swedes.

l agree. l never realize how fast l am going until l look in the rear view mirror and everyone else is about 100 feet back and l did not even touch the turbo. l think people who do not have Saab is are just haters. l have to agree with the maintenance comment because it is ridiculous. But after mine is out of warranty it is getting sold.

They may be a bit expensive to repair, but l strictly believe that if they r maintained properly u will not have to do any more maintenence to a Saab than u would any other vehicle. l have a 1999 9-5 SE V6 with 170,000 & it has not skipped a beat. Tires, brakes, Mobil 1 & a timing belt replacement every 60,000, plugs once & that is it, just like a normal vehicle. The 2001 9-5 Aero we own is just amazing, especially after 90,000 miles. Their behavior on the road is superb, the comfort, stereo, everything is great. On top of that, they're safe. Nobody can deny the fact that they r very quick for a stock automobile, maybe not the fastest, but very nimble & impressive. Saab makes a great car, period.BTW, has anyone seen the new 9-3?? l have test-driven the car, it is great!! Another awesome car from Saab.

Yep..I've got a relatively new '93 and it absolutely flies from 40-100mph! Looks good and has decent kit levels for the money. Try and pick one up at about 2 years old and sell at it at 4 to get the most out of your budget. On the down side; tyre replacements can be frequent and costly while mine absolutely dinks coolant!
