im going to lease the 2007 SAAB 9-3 what type of gas does this car take like 87 or 93 thanks thatss all l need to kno thanks

you will want to run 93 since it is a turbocharged car. l drove a 2002 SAAB 93 Viggen and it took premium. Whatever you do, do not buy a newer SAAB. They look great and are fun to drive, but since GM took over, built quality has been crap. They are not reliable cars.

l have noticed no difference in performance from 89 to 91, except price.

87 is fine. l have a 9-3 turbo, & it is perfectly happy.

Most modern cars can adjust their timing to the gas. l have an older carb-based car with a high-performance engine that needs super, but any current car only needs regular.

As for John M., l do not know what his experience is, but he obviously had a bad Saab experience as he often shows up to badmouth them.

I've lived in New England all my life, & have driven a number of cars, & Saabs r the safest ones I've owned. At some point they break down, but it is closer to the 200k mark if u keep them maintained, not the 80k mark as he implies.

Great cars. And thought has gone into every detail regarding safety. Even the radios r mounted high on the dash because u fiddle with them the most & when they're high on the dash u do not have to take ur eyes off the road as much to adjust them.

l was pleasantly surprised to find that if my windshield wipers were on, & l put the car in reverse, that the back wipers came on automatically. Now that is thinking.

I'd keep away from the 2x is & such, since they're really Subarus, but a 9-3 or a 9-5 is a pure Saab, & it shows.

My whole family owns nothing but Saabs since the day that l destroyed my father is 1990 at 95mph into a telephone pole. Not a scratch on me or anyone else thank god. Since then everyone has bought them. As far as the gas goes. It should say it right on the gas door. If it says unleaded then you can put anything 87 on up. The computer in the Saab is advanced enough that it can compensate for any octane rating. It should also run E85 which for a Saab actually makes more power.

l have a 96 9000 CSE & a 2000 9-5 & run premium in both.
It is worth the price difference in the long run.

Okay gas ''101''. The octane rating u see listed on the pump means this. The higher the number the more resistance to ''detonation'' or ''pinging'' as it is commonly known. Having said that, the rule of thumb is ''listen to the car''. Most every new car lists in the owners manual 91+ for the fuel requirement. The truth is that today is engine management is so good that unless ur car is pinging there is not a need to use a higher octane than what ur car runs good on ''not pinging''. In the winter ur car will run fine on 85, spring into summer u may have to move up a grade or two if under load the car pings. It is really that simple. We have two customers that have Saab is with 750k plus miles documented, that have never put a drop of premium fuel in their cars. Just listen to ur car. it will let u know what it wants. Also just a side note. Most premium fuel has sat in the ground so long that it has degraded down to little more than ''regular'' anyway just due to the price of the stuff, nobody buys it. Good Luck
