l have 2 problems. The radio volume control does not work when the radio is hot. For example when the car has been sitting in the sun. If l run the AC for a while the volume knob works again.

Also the centre vent has decided to stay shut after l had switched to demist. l can hear a whistling noise from the vent but it is not letting much air through.

And. Can someone please tell me how to remove the SID and radio unit?

No, l think you have 3 problems, not two. The 3rd is that you have a Saab.

Very unfair comment from Answerer one. However, In a 13 year old car problems do tend to rise and l am not saying this about SAAB but in any car.

Radio circuits need to be checked for the volume button to work. On the AC thing, you have a stuck or broken arm, that needs to be lubricated or changed.
