l am thinking of getting the 07 or 08 eclipse. l know repairs for the saab would be real expensive but if it has low miles and l get it checked out my a mechanic. woud l still have problems due to it being unreliable?

Just get the Caddy. It is a real car. You can always get parts fast in a fix, u can always depend on help to fix it since it is American. How often do u see foreign car repair shops, & do u know what they charge? Yes, more. Want to know which is easier to work on, do minor repairs to? Again, the Caddy.

The ride in a Caddy will always be better, why? GM owns the patent for the fastest ride adjusting shocks on earth, they can adjust the ride of the rear of the car in a millisecond when the front wheels sense a change in the ride. Maybe someday u will get to trade it in on the 750hp version.

Go by what Consumer Reports or JD Power says. l do not have immediate access to CR right now, but here r the JD Power ratings for the 2007 Saab & Eclipse (2008 is not yet out for both cars), & a two year period is better than one since the cars r about the same from those years. Note: Lowest score is 2 stars (all the rest), best is 5 (the best)

So on mechanical initial quality, the Saab is the better car (surprising, as Mitsubishi being Japanese is generally regarded as better but the results r not showing that). On design quality (the way it works), the two r about equal. As u mentioned, Saab repairs will be expensive. l own a 2006 Saab 9-3 2.0t & after 2.5 years l have had zero problems & 27,000 miles - but my experience is not what everyone has had.

Good luck with it. For a really reliable car, u r probably stuck getting a more boring 4 cylinder Honda or Toyota as both those brands V6s have been not so reliable.

l work for the SAAB-Cadillac Hummer dealer and honestly both Cadillac ( CTS or others) and Hummer have an unending line of problems compared to Saab. l own two Saab ( personally) cars and have been handling the Saab brand for over 16 years. Honestly, the Caddy or Eclipse are in no way comparable to a SAAB despite the hype about Cadillac.

saabs are very reliable l have a 1997 900 with 198000 miles on it ,if you keep the oil changed and take care of mantinance it will run a very long time.
