| Saab 9-5 whines when started in cold weather |

My 2001 Saab 9-5 2.3T has a loud whining sound when it is started - usually in colder weather.The sound lasts a while until the vehicle warms up.
l checked the belt, and it does not feel loose.What could cause this, and should it be a major concern?

Some times the alternator will do this until it warms up. l would not worry.

With due regards to the other answerer, l think u should worry. It is a 2001 & at that time there were major sludge issues. l answered this question earlier as well. Have it checked for sludge please.. in addition check the oil pump. l think u have sludge or a faulty oil pump which does not push enough oil initially & u hear the noise but slowly once there is enough oil & lubrication the noise goes away. Please do as l am suggesting & do not keep on asking the same question, waiting for an answer which u would like to hear. Rest is upto you.
