l have been told l need a new swirl actuator on my car is inlet manifold and that it will cost £1000 to put right. If l drive my car in auto l get an engine management light and then the car goes into limp home mode. If l drive it in manual l do not seem to have a problem. Will this cause my car further problems and also is there a way around having a new swirl actuator and it costing me over £1000? Many thanks.

Get a second opinion: The swirl actuator is a few quid & would not explain the difference between auto & manual running differences. It also would not cause the engine light to come on unless it became dislodged & sucked into the engine, whereby the car would just die expensively.
