l read somewhere that if your getting a Saab w/the 2.3 look for the B code w/a number designation next to it- there are two different letter designations for the two 2.3 engines? Any info. appreciated.

The ''E'' engine code can be deceiving. The E code motors can be either a ''low'' pressure turbo and lack the kick you are after, or an ''R'' motor that has a high pressure turbo. A thumbnail way to do a through the window check is look at the dash display. Some, not all ecopower engines do not have a boost gauge. Pop the hood and check the data tag. The engine family should read B235R. Avoid at all costs the 3.0L v-6, piece of crap.

same as scary frog. l read into this after l bought my 2003 2.3t 235e (low pressure turbo). the difference is not only in the turbo but how well the engine is built, l believe the 235r engines are built much stronger and have less issues.

2.3 is a 2.3 the only difrence would be if it came out of an se 9-3 or an aero 9-5 then it would have the td04 turbo also you can tell by the direct ignition if its red its the better one. stay away from the t7 motors and never ever get the v-6 late model it sucks.
