Why on earth would you want to disable this safety feature?

Leave them alone.

You can not, l just went out to our showroom and tried, there is no way to override them.

You need to have a Saab dealer or independent Saab mechanic use their programming scanner (aka Tech II). Many shops can be hesitant to do this, b/c of local laws. It is NOT something you can do yourself (besides pulling out the light bulbs!)

When you go to the Saab dealer for servicing, you can ask them to get rid of this stupid feature for free.

FYI, they thought that it could help folks see the car better if the H lights were on during the day. However, they were right and they were wrong. The big problem is that although the car is more visible, It become very difficult to judge the distance and the moving speed of this visible car, hence causing more accidents.

l have a 2006 9-3 convertible & l asked the Dealer the same question. My reason was the car has (expensive) Xenon HID lights that r on every second the car is on.

Well, yes, they can disable them -- takes 1-2 hours of labor (at shop rates that u get to pay for) AND it also disables the fog lights. The DRLs & fog lights r somehow tied together.

l did not want to loose the fog lights & l certainly did not want to pay the shop labor rates, so l abandoned the idea.
