Why is it that Saabs do not hold the price like other cars of this standard. Just sold a 1999 t reg 70,000 miles good con for 2,000 part exchange...tried private sales no success. l have noticed that in my local car trading paper that these cars seem to be ten a penny these days..and not an investment

saab made themselves their own worst enemies. they sold their company l believe, and then their cars changed from nice comfortable and suprisingly quick cars.to slow, unreliable and bus-feeling cars. when they got out and about no-body wanted to buy saabs anymore, and as a result the resale value dropped like a stone. which is bad luck for the people who own their older little beauties and want to sell them for what the car is really worth.

Is it because its manual ?

Most SAABS r autos because the auto boxes r fantastic. l had both & the auto was really good.

70,000 miles ? It was just run in, why sell it ?

If u go to main dealer for servicing u will be stitched up on SAABS, most people r probably put off by that & therefore prices r lower.

Also, T reg was one of the first ''vauxhall'' SAABS & do not favour very well with knowledgable buyers.

If they r ten a penny, good luck to the buyers, they can not go wrong with a SAAB.

No normal car is an investment.

l have a Saab 93 which I've had for 5 years and it is 10 years old. It is paid for and costs me little to maintain but is heavy on fuel. l would like to have another car but it would cost me more in the long run so l just keep on driving and enjoying it. It still drives like a new car and is really comfortable. l had it valued 3 years ago so it was only 7 years old at the time. The guy told me it was only worth £1100 l had paid £6000 a couple of years before. l felt sick.

Well, no car can be considered an INVESTMENT, unless u buy something like an E-type Jag, & even that is not guaranteed!
l know what u mean about Saabs though, for some reason they're just not considered 'prestige' cars in the UK, compared to BMWs & Mercs, although they're every bit as good. Possibly the manual box hurts its resale value as most buyers of big cars want an auto, & big petrol engined cars r generally on a bit of a slide just now.
On the upside, if u wanted another Saab, you'd get it for a song!
