Hello! Simply drive over to any AutoZone and allow us to check this for you for free, as well as print up the diagnosis for you. The dealer may charge for this service and l am pretty sure that this is the reason for your father is neglecting to want to have this checked out for you. Happy New Year!

Yep, I'd worry, something is wrong with the engine.

It could blow up!

Open your gas cap door. Check to see if the gas cap is on. If it is see if the gas cap is tight. Turn it until it starts clicking at least 4 clicks. If the cap seems very easy to turn while it is clicking or just does not feel right then chances are you need a new gas cap. This is very common on this car. The code will be P0440 or P0442 Do not use an aftermarket gas cap. Buy it from the Saab dealer because there are 2 different designs according to your engine designation

Check the gas cap. Open it, the close it properly. Continue with your driving routine. If the problem is an improperly closed gas cap, the light should go out in a day or two.

Good advice from the Autozone guy.

Modern cars have sensors all over the place. Unfortunately the sensors fail more frequently than anything else on the car.

There is probably nothing wrong with your car except that you need to replace a burned out sensor.

The Autozone guys will probably show you where it is and sell you a new one to replace yourself.

Probably $50 vs $200 at the dealer

go to autozone they will put it on the machine and tell you what is wrong for free it might be something simple like you need a tuneup

l also have this car and l would not take a chance on it if the light was on. The car is designed to talk to you and tell you when there is a problem. Just get it checked, especially if you love it like l love mine! :)

Yes something to worry as long term damage can result if you ignore. Have it checked with the diagnostic computer at Autozone and it will tell you what is wrong. if it is driving fine then it is just a sensor and probably it need a software upgrade. the new software normally takes care of all problems in the older models. Do not ignore for too long.

This happens on my 900S when l put ''E-gen'' fuel into it. The fuel injectors do not like this fuel. Stick to premium un-leaded and see if it stops.
