l can not put my car into drive when l start. l can only put it into d1 and get the car moving to around 25mph then put it into drive and then it runs fine. It works well in reverse. Is it something l can do myself? if not ,will it be expensive?

The only thing you can do is to check the gearbox oil level, if it is low you can top it up and probably it may be O.K. otherwise you will need a recondition gearbox and l am afraid it is very expensive, the car is not worth repairing. Te cost to get it repaired through an average garage is about £800.
