There was a major design change in 2003.Mid year they came out with the 9-3 sport sedan.These cars had some problems being that they were the first year for a new model.The '05 to present models are much better.
the '99 to '02 and '03 convertible 9-3 is a good car provided it is well maintained.The main thing is keeping the oil changed regularly.

l havent got one but been in one loads of times as my next door naughbour has one. it went in for a service the other day.. very expensive fix althought not that much was wrong with it. cant remember what parts it needed but nothing that seriouse..

Well l drive a 97 saab 900 that has 125,500 miles. l bought used with 84.200 miles few years ago.is the same for 93?
It has the same motor & the interior things that 93?
Is a good car cheap on gas. Well the differents is 5 speed or automatic.
My car is 5 speed & so far l did not not spend anything to fix no major parts.
The saabs r more tronger & easy to fix when they r 5 speed than automatic. Automatic cars like saab have alot of problems transmission cost alot & u have to change the fluid & the filter.
l say yes Saab car is good car to buy.
Now that GM owen the car maker. But the saab is come from europe. When u check them from where r made they say sweeden/finland at the driver door.

l had a 93 a few years ago,loved it.im buying another one.keep them serviced and looked after..it will be fine.

l owned two SAAB 93s. One was a 1960 93F with the regular doors. My first one was dark green as many original SAABs were and had suicide doors. Oh wait, l had three of them; the third one was black and l bought it just to strip it for parts.

And l had a chance to trade my 1968 SAAB 96 for a 1959 93 that was a GT750 and let it pass me by. Fudge!

Meanwhile l know squat about 9-3s.

l bought my first saab when l was 16. learned to take care of them, or at least enough to keep it running.you can see where this is going, bought three more over the next ten years and finally decided: NO MORE! l love them to death but eventually the tiny problems ALWAYS turned into larger problems. l miss the car but not the mechanic is bill.

My husband bought a 2003 9-3 in 2006. It drives well when it is not in the shop. Saabs lose their value quickly. l have a 9-5 wagon (01) and love it. Maybe his car is just a lemon. l would recommend a car that holds it is value better (toyota, honda, etc)
