l was parked facing downhill, started the engine while having the clutch depressed because of the ''reverse when parked saab policy''. l let the car roll downhill, and thinking l was in 1st while still in reverse, l released the clutch. The car stopped in less that 10 feet while not going faster that 5 miles/h. After that all the ''bad'' lights were on. Check Engine/Oil pressure, etc. l tried to start it but it shut down every time. l manged to drive back home keeping the engine running by revving it up. All the time it tried to stall. l tried to start it today and again,it stalls almost inmediately. Could a mishap be that bad? Any ideas or cheap solutions?. Thanks a lot!

Hi, thanks. Yes, on the one hand l hate myself for doing this, but on the other hand, why did not it just stall. Many times you're still moving forward when you shift to reverse and control the gas and clutch to break the forward moving inertia. Why all this trouble and not just a simple stal!!!??. Thanks anyway, I will see the mechanics tomorrow.

Sounds like when it tried to start in wrong gear the motor fired but ran backwards or tried. Might have screwed up the timing or damaged something in the valve train. Have it checked out, soon.
