The headlights go on when the ignition is turned on.. the headlights go off when the ignition is turned off... there is a headlight switch which does nothing for the headlights.. but shunts the brights if not on the ''on'' detent.Like other GM cars, the freekin headlights don;t go off.l never asked the dealer.. l assumed this was standard ''fare'' and l hate it.

Via the switch of course but l assume you tried that already. Change the switch, it may be faulty. However, the lights should go off when you switch off the car. Please give more details of your problem.

The daytime running lights (DRL's) r enabled. On the 9-5 l know there is a fuse u pull to disable them so they will turn off when the switch is in the off position. Check ur owner is manual under the lighting section for DRL information. It is possible there is a fuse u can pull or u might need to bring it somewhere to have them disabled via Tech II.

EDIT - l looked into a little further & found that on 2004 9-3 is u do indeed need to take it to the dealer to have them program the lights to the ''Rest of World'' setting. This will give u control over the headlights via the switch. No need to replace it.

Saaber89 is correct. l have little to add except quite a few dealers will refuse to do this. The lingo is ''a Tech I l change to disable the DRL/daytime running lights''.

You can not just pull the fuse as in other Saabs.

DRL r a safety feature because pedestrians see the car & do not jump in front of the car. So consider leaving them alone.

If u turn ur switch to off, some of the center console switch lights will go off (saves a bit) but ur front fog lights (if installed) will be disabled until u turn the switch to on. Off or on, the DRL lights stay on unless u do a Tech I l change.

If u ever drive to Canada, do not disable the DRL. If u do & forget to turn on ur lights, u may get a ticket or even arrested if the RCMP mountie does not like you.
