I've looked and everyplace I've seen just says to use genuine saab transmission oil. The problem is that it is $19 a liter. Is not there a cheaper alternative.

Check the owners manual.
Also look on the tranny dipstick itself.Sometimes that kind
of info is printed on the stick itself.

Saab 9/5 models 2002 and up require fully synthetic transmission oil. It is available at your Saab dealer. You will need 4 litres. Yes it is pricey, but you will only have to change it every 60,000 miles.

Note.to do the job correctly you should have it power flushed. Since there are more than 4 litres of fluid in the entire transmission including the torque converter then the total cost will now be very expensive.

ATF 3309 (SAAB P/N 93160393). PLEASE USE THE SPECIFIED MINERAL BASED OIL. yOU ARE TRYING TO SAVE A 100 $ FOR SOMETHING WHICH CAN COST YOU ATLEAST 3000 $ IF IT BREAKS I.E YOUR TRANSMISSION.

you probably need 5 quarts. Make it easy on your self and call your local dealer or else. You will put the wrong fluid in the tranny and will be waiting for another from Sweeden. yeah like 4500 dollars to have it replaced in my bosses 900s
