''My son just bought a 08 93 2.0t. The front seat headrests do not lower fully so that the bottom of the headrest touches the top of the seat back. l have a 07 93 and the headrests lower completely. Any suggestions short of cutting the metal posts that hold the headrests in position. The dealer says some of the newer models are built that way, but my son finds the headrests to obstruct his rearview vision which could create a safety hazzard.

Interesting, Saab did this on the 9-5 too in 2001. They decided in the headrests' lowest positions they were not effective enough. They did not make the posts longer though, they just added a notch on the other post that had a square angle rather than a sloped slot so it could not slide through the sleeve. On one sleeve there is a latch that u can push to slide the headrest down. On the other sleeve there is also a button, but u can not push it easily. l have to use my finger nail or the tip of my key to push it in & then the headrest will slide all the way down. This is how it works on my 9-5, not sure if this applies to the new 9-3's, but it might lead u in the right direction. Good luck.

It is not design to move all the way down. This is because the SAAB headrests are ACTIVE Headrests. Also known as SAHR. This is a safety feature and can affect the SAHR performance in case of a rear end accident. The head rest is supposed to move forward to hold the head to avoid whiplash injuries and if it goes all the way down it will not be effective as it will not be able to hold the head and prevent injury.
